The Rosewood fingerboard has very tight grain with light red to dark striping from the nut to the last fret. Gibson's 50's Rounded "C" neck profile lives up to the reference "Baseball Bat" neck. This is a great little book with a variety of pictures and some nice short descriptions to stimulate conversation. My main problem with it is that the pages are thin and when my 5 year old used a marker on them, it bled through 3 pages. (These were not particularly potent markers; if anything they were all bit dry and worn out.) Use crayons and you should be fine.
