There are several rust colored specks and the is one small hole on the wrist. There are also a few pulls in the material. I am not sure how to describe the material, it seems to have been very common in Germany but I don't see that material much outside of Europe.

No reason to buy replacement grills at the dealer or even at an auto parts store. These are great quality for a fraction of the price...and you get both sides. Highly recommended if you have an e46 and the grill plastic has deteriorated and is loose. These grills are thick and robust. I like them better than the original. Fit is snug but they look great.
